Is the new PS Vita's price reasonable?

Is the price of the new PS vita rational enough for every gamer out there to buy?

While the new psp which was named as the PS Vita was just recently made public this last E3 on june, There had been thousands of new information about the new psp , doubts and rumors about the games, the specs and the feel of the new ps vita, The only tangible thing we can hold for now is the price.

While the PS vita will be given to the public this december 2011(used to be november), they have already given the price for the new PSP vita. The price given was for the pre-order in amazon which you can buy now. The first version of the PS Vita is a Wifi only version which would cost you $249.99 in amazon. The second version has included a 3G with the Wifi but you have to give an additional $50 so it would be $249.99 now.

But how can we say if the price is reasonable for us to buy or rational for us to just jump right in and buy the new version of the psp. I will not talk about if its reasonable in terms of specs or features but only if it relates to the price.

If you remember the oldest PSP version which was called psp-1000 or the brite it cost more than $250 or even $300 in some regions outside of US and japan. The PSP-go which is the last version before the new PS Vita, cost more or less the same as the oldest psp version when it was still new. The price of the PS vita is quite reasonable when you compared it to the price they released for their old PSP versions. The cheapest psp vita version is only $249 and the 3G one costing $300. This might be a ploy of Sony to try and lessen the gap between the price of their own portable gaming system from the one of Nintendo which is the 3DS. Cheaper things means more chances for it to sell.

You can say that the price will still go down because this price is a pre-order but I am certain that the slashed price will not go beyond $10-$20 from the original pre-order price. While the price may go down if the PS vita will be officially publicly released, as a gamer I can't wait to try it out with the new features Sony is proud of.
